Ain't it a shame
A shame that every time you hear my name
Brought up in a casual conversation
You can't think straight?

January 8, 1986, Sara Rosa Kinsella was born into a comfortable life her great grandparents, grandparents, and parents had worked hard to establish. Her family background was a mix of African-American, Mexican, Cuban, and Dominican heritage each of which influenced Sara in one way or another. She was taught at an early age to value how lucky she was and never take anything for granted. During a time when the south made it difficult for minorities to succeed, her grand parents found a little surprise in the name of oil on their bleak, but promising few acres of land. Though most of the money they earned from the selling their land is gone, the money they made afterwards lead the Kinsella family to provide generations a comfortable living. They invested wisely and because her great grandparents hadn't had the chance to get an education, they drilled it into the head of Sara's grandfather. He turned out to be a successful lawyer and once he married, Sara's father was born. Her mother and father both practice law at the firm her grandfather established many years ago.

Her parents, Albert and Marisol, stayed in Austin in order to raise their family in a diverse and exciting environment. They thought they spent enough time in Austin due to their professions but they couldn't resist staying near the city they'd always loved. A younger sibling was added into the mix when Sara was three years old and boy was she pissed. The attention shifted to her baby brother/sister and Sara wasn't used to it nor did she appreciate everyone showering their attention on the new baby. Sara acted out as any young child would and her mother often jokes that was the time Sara found her voice. Loud, obnoxious, and bratty, Sara became the typical big sister who enjoyed being in charge and didn't let her thoughts or opinions go unheard.

Growing up in the heart of Austin was pretty exciting for Sara. There was always somewhere to go or something to see, the possibilities were endless and due to the family's ability to be anything but frugal, Sara was able to do most of what she wanted. While her parents were busy with their careers, Sara started to get into trouble. She was always sneaking out at night, moseying around the city with her friends and staying out past curfew. When her parents found a few empty bottles of wine coolers underneath her bed, along with evidence she had taken up smoking weed, they were furious. Most parents would've taken it as typical behavior from a teenager, but if she ever stepped too far out of line her parents would make sure she paid for it and they weren't kidding. Deciding the family needed a break from city life, they relocated to Rycade, Texas which to Sara was the middle of nowhere.

For Sara, it felt like there was nothing to do except school and she wondered if that had been her parents plan all along. Coming from a family of lawyers, Sara excelled in school and attended St. Xavier Catholic High School. She was the kind of student that got pissed when they got anything less than an A, which more often than not irritated the other students in her class. Sara inherited her mother's brash and bullshit free attitude and you either loved her or hated her. Sara's always been pretty open about her feelings and has no qualms expressing them which was why it was a surprise when she began to date Ryan Daly. The two had a tumultuous relationship that lasted until their freshman year at the University of Texas. They were always on and off and her parents never approved of their dating. Even Sara felt slightly relieved when things officially ended between the two. Her four years at UT holds some valuable memories for Sara. She was able to study abroad for a semester in Spain and flourished in the environment of academia.

Her parents had twenty-two years to convince Sara to pursue becoming a lawyer and she finally relented. Upon graduation, Sara immediately began law school at UT. A trust fund from her family allows her to focus on school full-time, something she never likes to share in fear of coming off like a spoiled brat. As much as law interests her, Sara sometimes regrets going down the path her parents had chosen for her. She hates knowing she's just going to end up working in the same law firm her grandfather established so many years ago and fears she'll grow up to be just like her parents. Part of her wants to get far, far away from Texas and she could if she wanted, but sometimes she wonders what's really keeping her here.

lines.

[info]rydy: Her lawyer parents never approved of her dating who they referred to as a redneck from Rycade. They met when her family relocated from Austin to Rycade and initially Sara thought Ryan was just another cocky, egotistical male who felt he could get whatever girl he wanted but the spark between the two was too difficult to ignore. Sara never put up with his shit. If he pushed her (not literally, he'd end up in the hospital if he ever did), she would push him ten times harder. Eventually Sara became tired of their relationship and broke things off. She was sick of her parents on her back about him and dealing with their tumultuous relationship. Somehow he won her back leading to an interesting on-off relationship that lasted and ended until their freshman year of college. She still loves him but finds him toxic on a romantic level.

[info]saam: These two girls have never gotten along, right from the day these two met during their freshman year of high school. Sara calls it like it is and has never wanted or needed to be around Sam and her bullshit and finds her to be extremely immature, especially when she sees her around the bars. If there was ever a cat fight to be had, it would certainly be between these two.

[info]girlinthemoon: Sophie and Sara have been best friends ever since she moved to Rycade. The girls were neighbors and despite the two year age difference at the time, the two quickly bonded and have been best friends ever since. They tell each other everything and are extremely honest with one another, even when the truth hurts. Sophie's one of those girls Sara will ever always stand up for no matter what.

[info]ameia: They knew each other from Rycade but somehow ran into each other while Amelia was backpacking through Europe and Sara was studying abroad for a semester in Spain. Amelia ended up crashing with Sara for a little while and the two quickly bonded.

[info]sebastianmorgan: He hurt Sophie. Enough said.

[info]pilarmari: She's friends with Sam. Enough said.
